Living Life to The Max

There’s only one reason retiree Annie Reynolds wishes she could turn the clock back ten years. It’s that if The Breeze retirement community had been built earlier, she and husband Alan could have started living the fabulous lifestyle they do today.
An amazing revelation from someone who thought she’d never move into a retirement village – especially as she had worked in the industry herself for over sixteen years. “We were happy with our home and life,” Annie says. “We’d even made plans about renovations. We thought we’d never leave, but The Breeze offered the ideal lifestyle we were looking for”.
When Annie saw an ad for The Breeze, she was intrigued. She and Alan jumped on the ferry from their home in Safety Beach and headed to Point Lonsdale on the Bellarine Peninsula. Annie says when they both saw The Breeze, they were ‘in awe’. So much so that they made the decision on the hour ferry back home that they would reserve a villa and sell their home straight away. The Reynolds moved into their brand new, free-standing villa in October last year.
“Alan and I are very active,” says Annie. “So, a big drawcard for us was the location. The Breeze is right on the waterways and is a beautiful area to go for walks, bike rides and kayaking”.
Another big drawcard was the social aspect. Annie and Alan have joined the walking, cycling and water sports groups at The Breeze and get together a few times a week with other residents.
They love playing pool or meeting friends for a drink at the bar in the newly opened Waterside Pavilion, which offers all this and more in a lovely shared space.
“Now that the Waterside Pavilion is open, I’m looking forward to joining yoga and exercise classes,” says Annie. “Alan loves the fact that The Breeze has its own boat and is looking forward to spending many sunny days out on the bay”.
There is no doubt the couple lives a full and active life and have found making new friends easy, because as Annie mentions, “everyone is likeminded”. She also believes that “retirement living isn’t about being a particular age, it’s about the lifestyle you’re looking for”. They’ve certainly found it at The Breeze!
